Want a buzz with that beer? Buyer beware. The amount of alcohol in beer can range from almost nothing, to upwards of 19.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). (That’s almost twice as much as an average glass of wine.) The strongest beers have the highest proof, which is calculated by doubling the ABV. If you’re boozing to get a buzz, the higher proof, the better. Just be careful to consume the highest proof beer (and any alcohol) responsibly, i.e., in moderation.
