Tips to Avoiding Depression

April 18th, 2011 by Dr. Mercola

Depression is a state of the mind, body and thoughts which together work towards negativity. It also is not a disease but an illness wherein a person is not able to do normal things, according to wellness enthusiast Dr. Charles Buchar.

“Depression may be caused due to mental stress or due to high intake of antibiotics,” Buchar says at wellness.com. “At times, anxiety may also be the cause of depression. For some people, depression can also be because of the monotonous life.”

Buchar offers these five ways to conquer depression without drugs:

1. Offer goodwill to others

2. Keep busy

3. Share problems

4. Don’t dwell on the negative

5. Avoid feelings of guilt

Wackiness on Steroids — Researchers Develop a Pill for Fear of Heights

March 30th, 2011 by Dr. Mercola

Scientists are claiming that a dose of the stress hormone cortisol, in pill form, can help reduce fear of heights.  Tests on 40 patients with acrophobia found that cortisol in combination with behavioral therapy reduced their aversion.

According to The Telegraph:

“Cortisol is a hormone made by the adrenal glands. Some disorders such as arthritis, skin disorders and asthma can be treated with synthesized cortisol, called cortisone or corticosteroids.”

Of course, if you would prefer to have a way of reducing your anxieties that doesn’t come with the side effects of popping a pill, you might want to try EFT instead. According to EFT theory, at the root of anxiety are unresolved emotional issues and a disrupted energy meridian system (or chi), both of which are easily balanced with EFT’s do-it-yourself acupressure system. The process involves certain meridian points on the body being stimulated with a simple fingertip tapping process.

5 Easy Ways to Reduce Your Cell Phone Exposure

February 24th, 2011 by Dr. Mercola

For several years, doctors and activists have been raising concerns about the possible connection between cell phones and brain cancer. And recent research conclusively determined that a cell phone’s electromagnetic field can indeed cause changes in brain activity.

Time Magazine lists five simple ways to reduce your exposure to cell phone radiation:

Use a wired headset

This keeps the antenna far away from your skull.

Get used to texting

Texting also keeps the handset away from your brain, reducing the radiation risk.

Don’t use your cell phone as an alarm clock

If you use your phone as your wake-up call, you’ll likely need to keep it close to your head; there’s still radiation being emitted even when it’s not taking calls.

Don’t carry your phone in your pocket

There’s preliminary research to indicate that men who carry a phone in their pocket all day could be putting their fertility at risk, and women who carry their phones in their bra could be increasing their risk of breast cancer.

Use a radiation-blocking case

These can reduce cell phone radiation by two-thirds.

The Cold Cure Finally Learned by a Long-Suffering 78 Year Old Doctor

February 9th, 2011 by Dr. Mercola

By Christine Wheeler, MA

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an innovative new approach to healing that is gaining attention from medical professionals and laypersons all over the world.

It is becoming popularized for its simplicity and drug free effectiveness in eliminating the symptoms associated with illnesses of all kinds. It has achieved noticeable improvements in a wide range of conditions and diseases, from the common cold to multiple sclerosis.

EFT has taken Einstein’s discoveries (that everything is energy, including the human body), married them with the ancient tradition of acupuncture, and formulated a modern approach to dealing with illness. The success of EFT lies in the balancing of the body’s subtle energies that flow through the body in much the same way as blood flows through veins.

This balancing is done with an elegant sort of emotional acupuncture. Instead of using needles, specific release points are stimulated by tapping them with the fingertips. The basics of EFT can be learned by anyone and can be self-applied (usually in minutes).

When the subtle energies of the body are balanced, symptoms associated with illness are often corrected … usually quickly and often permanently. Clinical results indicate that EFT is effective 80% of the time. While EFT does not offer perfect results, it is without known side effects, can be learned by anyone and gives people control over their own health situations. It often works when nothing else will … even if there is no known cure, as with the common cold.

Here is a synopsis of an actual case where a retired medical doctor relieved his own common cold symptoms with EFT.

Physician used EFT to stop his oncoming cold.

William Schenker, MD, a retired family physician described himself as having a lifelong history of severe common colds. When he was younger, the cold would leave him feeling miserable for 6 to 8 days.

As he approached middle age, the colds worsened remarkably, sometimes lasting 2 weeks and often leaving him bedridden for the first week.

At age 78, after a lifetime of severe colds, Dr. Schenker used EFT one morning when he awoke with the telltale signs of another cold. He had all the symptoms … congestion, runny nose, scratchy throat and a tired, achy feeling. In his experience, these symptoms were just the beginning of two weeks of feeling miserable.

Within the first hours of noticing the cold symptoms, he performed 3 complete applications of EFT … a total of about 9 minutes of EFT. Normally, his colds would develop quickly but this time, within an hour his symptoms still hadn’t worsened.

At noon he did another set of 3 complete applications of EFT and reported, “I noticed a radical decrease in symptom severity, maybe 50% improvement.” After just 15 minutes of EFT, his cold symptoms were cut in half.

In the evening, he did another set of 3 EFT applications and afterwards, the symptoms from the morning were 95% gone. The next morning, he awoke with mild sniffles and did EFT three times again that day … morning noon and night. After that, no more EFT and no cold developed. During the next week he would occasionally get a bout of sniffles “But that’s about it” reported Dr. Schenker “otherwise, the problem was wiped out!”

Dr. Schenker was accustomed to a minimum of two weeks of suffering each time he contracted a common cold. Using EFT, he balanced his subtle energy system and eliminated his body’s typical reaction to being infiltrated by a cold virus.

Please note that, in addition to improving cold symptoms with EFT, it has been a consistently effective healing tool for hundreds of other physical, mental and emotional ailments. There are two basic areas to learn in order to use EFT: the tapping locations and technique, and the positive affirmations. To expand your abilities and understanding, consider Try It On Everything.

If you are not getting the results you would like, or you have a particularly traumatic issue, please do not give up! Instead, consider consulting with an EFT professional. Many of these therapists even offer a free 15-minute phone session in which you can ask them questions to see if you connect.

Astounding Novel Treatment for Burns and Muscle Injuries

January 28th, 2011 by Dr. Mercola

By Christine Wheeler, MA

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a new advanced healing tool, consistently being shown to supply relief when conventional first-aid treatments are unavailable or ineffective.

The basics of EFT can be learned by anyone and can be self-applied (usually in minutes). Also, EFT can be applied almost anywhere and any time, making it as convenient to use as it is effective.

Seasoned EFT users know that they can “try it on everything” and case studies have shown it to be consistently effective in providing immediate relief for burns, bee stings, muscle injuries, and even halting anaphylactic shock. While EFT does not claim to be a cure-all, it has a confirmed efficacy rate of about 80 percent.

EFT incorporates the acupuncture meridian system as defined in traditional Chinese medicine.  Like acupuncture, EFT balances the subtle energies flowing throughout the meridian system and what results is an alleviation of painful symptoms associated with burns, bee stings and other injuries. What makes EFT unique is that this balance is achieved without the use of needles. Instead, a series of specific acupuncture points are stimulated with the fingertips.

Jessica Gillies, an EFT user from Australia, used EFT to eliminate the pain of a serious burn.

EFT as First-Aid to Eliminate the Pain Associated With a Boiling Water Burn

Jessica reminds us that EFT is literally at our fingertips any time we are faced with a painful injury. She reports that she spilled boiling water on her hand while in a public place. The extreme pain was immediate and intense and the reddening appeared quickly. Jessica had no medications to use on the burn. Nor did she have cold water to neutralize the burning. She did, however, have her fingertips, which was all she needed to apply EFT.

The most obvious problem was her “really really intense pain.” Using EFT, the pain gradually decreased to a sharp stinging sensation, then to a mere discomfort. After about two to three minutes of performing EFT, the pain had completely disappeared. In Jessica’s words, she was “somewhat incredulous, as the redness was still very evident on my skin, and I remained pain free from then on.

Previously, Jessica hadn’t used EFT very often for her physical issues but, with this success, she was motivated to try it on other issues. On one occasion, for example, she spent a few minutes doing EFT to eliminate the pain associated with “a very nasty muscle strain injury” and restored full range of motion to the area.

More on EFT

In addition to eliminating pain associated with burns and other injuries, EFT has been consistently effective for hundreds of other physical, mental and emotional ailments.

Please consult qualified health professionals before putting EFT into practice for yourself or others.

There are two basic areas to learn in order to use EFT: the tapping locations and technique, and the positive affirmations.  You should be able to successfully treat many problems by diligently applying the following instructions. To expand your abilities and understand, consider Try It On Everything.

If you are not getting the results you would like, or you have a particularly traumatic issue, please do not give up! Instead, consider consulting with an EFT professional.  Many of these therapists even offer a free 15-minute phone session in which you can ask them questions to see if you connect.

New Technique for Fibromyalgia Relief

December 27th, 2010 by Dr. Mercola

By Christine Wheeler, MA

Some of our biggest EFT enthusiasts are people who have used this gentle, safe and easy-to-administer technique to minimize their suffering from pain. Janet Cole said, “I forgot what pain was about” after she used EFT for her fibromyalgia-related pain. More about Janet later.

Imagine a fresh approach to healing that has reduced or eliminated the formidable fibromyalgia symptoms, sometimes in as little as three minutes. That seems to be an outlandish claim, especially if you have tried everything and nothing works. However, a growing number of western medical doctors have recognized EFT’s usefulness. Eric Robins, MD states:

“Someday the medical profession will wake up and realize that unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses. When they do, EFT will be one of their primary healing tools … as it is for me.”

EFT is a new procedure that borrows from the much-heralded discoveries of Albert Einstein (everything, including your body, is composed of energy) AND from the ancient wisdom of Chinese acupuncture. In essence, EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture except that needles are not necessary. Instead, certain release points are stimulated by tapping them with the fingertips. Further, the basics of EFT can be learned by anyone and can be self-applied (usually in minutes).

EFT is gentle – even for people with fibromyalgia
who can be very sensitive to touch.

Anyone with fibromyalgia knows that emotional turmoil and stress only make the symptoms worse. So EFT is perfect for people with fibromyalgia. EFT deals with the hopelessness often associated with the illness as well as the unresolved emotions from the past. When these emotional components are resolved, the pain of fibromyalgia melts — often permanently.

Janet had been in nearly constant pain from fibromyalgia for about nine years when we met at an EFT conference. She had been using EFT sporadically for a few weeks and she did improve; instead of having constant pain, her pain would come and go. She was looking for complete relief.

I agreed to work with Janet and I focused on doing EFT for emotions that may be fueling her fibromyalgia. To me, fibromyalgia (and most other physical ailments) are merely bodily manifestations (symptoms) of unresolved fear, trauma, rejection, anger, guilt and other emotional causes.

We spent about 40 minutes together doing EFT on an intense emotional issue from her past. Just thinking about the issue was severely upsetting. After about 30 minutes of EFT, she felt calmer. She knew that she had made substantial emotional headway and her body felt lighter when she left. Janet felt like she got a good start and committed to continuing tapping on the emotional issues in addition to the painful symptoms.

Some time after the conference I heard from Janet who said: “The EFT is working just great for me, it is night 13 of falling asleep without the pain of the Invisible Chronic Illness (fibromyalgia) and this is a phenomenal record for me. Since 1991, the onset of this illness, I have not had two pain free nights in a row.” Janet reported occasional minor stiffness in the morning, which she just taps away with EFT. She is pain-free all day and all night!

Addressing Janet’s emotional issues with EFT has given her a level of both emotional and physical relief that she has not experienced for many, many years. No drugs, injections or side effects, either. Here in EFT Land, this type of thing happens much too often to call it coincidence.

Please note that, in addition to improving fibromyalgia symptoms with EFT, it has been a consistently effective healing tool for hundreds of other physical, mental and emotional ailmentsWhile a complete description of EFT is beyond the scope of this article, you can learn all the basics from the free EFT Get Started Package, including a free download of the 79-page EFT Manual (it includes all the basics).
