FDA Issues Warning Regarding Tainted Hypertension Drug
The FDA has warned doctors that 11 lots of Cleviprex, an intravenous hypertension drug, have been contaminated with bits of steel.
The steel particles can disrupt blood flow to the brain, kidney, liver, heart and lungs.
The company that makes the drug, Medicines Co., recalled the affected lots and recommended that doctors inspect vials of the drug for contamination prior to use. The cause of the contamination is still unclear.
